Explore The World Class Mikumi National Park Safari Tours from Dar es Salaam by SGR 2026/2027

This short 2026/2027 safari tour offers the opportunity to see the Big Four. Mikumi National Park, Tanzania's fourth-largest national park, is the most accessible from Dar es Salaam. Spanning 3,230 km² (1,250 mi²), it is located between the Uluguru Mountains to the north and the Lumango Mountains to the southeast. Mikumi is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including buffalo, giraffes, elephants, lions, pythons, zebras, leopards, crocodiles, birds, and many more.

Mikumi National Park is the most accessible and one of the nearby big-game national parks from the city of Dar es Salaam by SGR. It offers a true safari experience just very few hours away by rail way (SGR)-no need for domestic flights or long travel times. This makes it perfect for travelers on tight schedules or weekend getaways.

Mikumi National Park is one of Tanzania’s (and perhaps even one of East Africa’s) most underrated wildlife destinations. It is often compared to the world-famous Serengeti National Park in the country’s north. That’s partly because of the sheer number of animals you can see while you’re in Mikumi, and also because of the wide-open landscapes of Mikumi’s floodplains. But Mikumi gets only a small fraction of visitor numbers compared with the Serengeti, which can make for a truly magical experience. The park is also very easy to get to from Dar es Salaam, making it the perfect southern Tanzanian safari destination
